How to replace your screen - Saving you money, it's easy

This is one of the most popular modifications you can make to your bike. After market screens are useful for customising the bike's areodynamics to suite your height and build. Other people just change their screen to improve the look of their bike.

1. The most important thing you should do is make sure your're using the correct screwdriver. Ensure it fits the groobes exactly or you'll end up chewing up the screwhead.

2. Have a container ready to keep the fasteners safe. It's imperative you look out for the wellnuts - otherwise they'll drop our and disappear into the fairing.

3. Once you've removed the origional screen, take your new one from its box and offer it up to check the fit. Keep the old screen wrapped in somthing soft like a blanket or bubblewrap.

4. To use the wellnuts from your origional screen, you may need to soften and lubricate them (old onces are often hard and unmalleable). A simple trick is to dunk them into very hot water.

5. Using a bit of spit, place the wellnuts into the new screen. Finger tighten the screws doing one of the top screws first, then the bottom one, then the top on the other side and so on.

6. Now screw in properly, but don't overtighten or the screws will get damaged. Gently put your fingers around the wellnut undereather and, when you feel it tighten it's time to stop.
